Let it Leave Me is a six-minute narrative dance film by Trisha Angeles — an abstract study of sudden loss, as the body turns to movement as an act of survival.

“On September 26th, 2023 my partner was murdered while walking our dog home from our local coffee shop.

My intention with Let it Leave Me was to trace the emotional arc of a day that started with us laying in bed and ended with him leaving this earth in front of me.

I set out to use dance to reconnect my body to its nervous system that was severed through trauma, choosing now to transform the pain and having the courage to let it leave me.

The film was created through a deeply collaborative process, with artists coming together in trust to explore loss through movement and sound. By externalizing grief through choreography and cinematic language, the film gave form to the unspeakable—allowing grief to move in order for me to heal. ”
